Transition to Work

  • For participants 16 to 20 years of age
  • School leavers with no career path
  • Awaiting further Youth training
  • Needing literacy/numeracy support
Some conditions apply for entry into this programme.

The Transition to Work programme is designed for school leavers who lack the skills to get them immediately into the workforce and assist participants either into employment or further tertiary training.

The focus is on realistic goal setting and holistic education.

We offer:
  • Education - focusing on literacy and numeracy
  • Community skills - covering social, health, arts and culture
  • Trade skills - woodwork technology, information technology
  • Employment - developing employment skills and goals

  • Improved self esteem and confidence
  • Practical literacy and numeracy skills
  • An effective CV
  • A realistic career path planned
  • Practical workplace and employment skills
  • Knowledge of rights and responsibilities as a citizen
  • Practical daily living skills
  • Good health and wellbeing
  • Assistance with employment
The Programme
  • 24 week programme
  • 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday
  • Academic and Trade sessions
  • Community and Employment Skills
  • Off-site outings
  • Integration of social and health specialists into the programme
What does it cost?

This service is free to all participants although a small charge may be made for some external activities.  Travel costs to and from The Mission are the responsibility of the participant.
